May 2022 Monthly Jobs Report

Missouri non-farm payroll employment decreased by 3,100 jobs from April 2022 to May 2022, and the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased by three-tenths of a percentage point. Private industry employment decreased by 1,500 jobs and government employment decreased by 1,600 jobs. The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.1% in May 2022, down from 3.4% in April 2022. Over the year, there was an increase of 71,800 jobs from May 2021 to May 2022, and the unemployment rate decreased by 1.4 percentage points, from 4.5% in May 2021 to 3.1% in May 2022.

Fresh Look For Summer

The We Care Volunteers with Main Street Brookfield have been working hard the past few weeks sprucing up the downtown area just in time for summer. Projects have included painting of the underpass railing, planting and upkeep of flowers downtown and cleaning of the Twin Parks. Crews with the City of Brookfield assisted by hanging signs on the light poles as well. Members of Brookfield High School Student Council also helped with cleaning of the park.

Mudcats Fend Off Outlaws For Second Win

A quick, but likely wise, suspension/postponement of Saturday’s tied contest after 2-plus snail’space innings shortened the Chillicothe Mudcats’ planned weekend action for a second week in a row and converted a would-be 2-games home series with the Joplin Outlaws into a single clash the Mudcats barely held on to claim, 12-10. On Saturday evening, with widespread thunderstorm looming, the Fish and Outlaws slogged through only the first two outs of the top of the third inning in about an hour before lightning prompted not just the initial 30-minutes delay, but – with a longer delay nearly certain and at least some rain likely to impact playing conditions before action could resume – an immediate suspension of the game until the Mudcats visit Joplin for two nights next month.
