Surviving Tough Times

Most producers in northwest Missouri never had the opportunity to work with or meet Eldon Cole. Eldon was a Livestock Specialist for University of Missouri Extension in southwest Missouri for 58 years. Eldon passed away in April of this year. He had tremendous impact on the beef industry of Missouri and will be greatly missed. In his last newsletter, he included an article on surviving tough times. I thought it was fitting to share his nuggets of wisdom.

NCMC Hosts FFA Officer Training

The Missouri FFA Association conducted officer-training workshops on the North Central Missouri College (NCMC) campus in Trenton on Wednesday, June 1. Approximately 200 Chapter FFA officers and advisors from high schools across northwest Missouri participated in the workshops.

11 Traffic Fatalities, No Boating Fatalities, One Drowning Over Memorial Day Weekend

Eleven people died in traffic crashes over the 2022 Memorial Day weekend counting period of 6 p.m., Friday, May 27, through 11:59 p.m., Monday, May 30. Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers investigated 304 traffic crashes, with 115 injuries, 121 driving while intoxicated arrests were made along with 79 drug arrests.

MDC, K9 Investigation Nets Arrests

Last month, Livingston County Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) Agent Caleb Pryor and K9 Waylon were called to Grundy County for a trespassing call. A landowner reported that two people had trespassed on his property and shot a turkey. After fleeing from the landowner on foot, one suspect fired a gun in his direction.
