An average of a couple dozen-plus players participated during the final summer activities of the Brookfield High School football program the week of July 18-22 before the beginning of preseason practices Monday, Aug. 8. Second-year head coach Cory Luke, seen talking to the huddled group on hand for the last morning instructional session Friday, July 22, shares that about 25-30 players made the trip to the Simpson University team camp in Indianola, Iowa, July 18-19. Also seen is new defensive coordinator Kooper Wilson guiding members of that unit through alignment and assignment responsibilities during the July 22 morning session. BHS’ football Bulldogs are slated to open their new season at home Friday, Aug. 26, against Trenton, which ended their 2021 season with a home loss in the first round of the district playoffs after Brookfield began the year with an overtime victory at Trenton.
