Buffalo Soldiers Iron Riders 125th Anniversary Celebrated

125 years ago, June 1897, 20 Black Buffalo Soldiers left Missoula, Montana riding bicycles arriving at St. Louis, Missouri 41 days (1,900 miles) later. The bicycle was a new invention and the United States Army wanted to test if the bicycle could be a practical weapon of war. The Buffalo Soldiers nicknamed the Iron Riders proved the bicycle could move further and quicker than cavalry or infantry. On Tuesday, July 19, members of the Kansas City Alexander Madison Buffalo Soldiers Organization gave a program at the Laclede, Missouri City Park commemorating the 1897 historic bicycle trek. Chillicothe Mudcats Nudged Toward Brink In Iowa Tuesday

BOONE, Iowa — The Chillicothe Mudcats’ long-ailing 2022 season – after drifting from being the hospital equivalent of serious condition by the start of July to critical July 16 when a potentially-lifesaving victory over Carroll, Iowa, eluded them when it was one strike away – likely moved to death’s doorstep this past Tuesday when they dropped an 8-4 decision to the Des Moines (Iowa) Peak Prospects at Boone’s Memorial Park stadium.

June 2022 Monthly Jobs Report

Missouri non-farm payroll employment increased by 5,300 jobs from May 2022 to June 2022, and the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased by three-tenths of a percentage point. Private industry employment increased by 2,000 jobs and government employment increased by 3,300 jobs. The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 2.8% in June 2022, down from 3.1% in May 2022. Over the year, there was an increase of 65,500 jobs from June 2021 to June 2022, and the unemployment rate decreased by 1.6 percentage points, from 4.4% in June 2021 to 2.8% in June 2022.
