The 2022 football Tigers, under new leadership in head coach Joey Peterson, worked out in the mid-to-late afternoon hours, while the softball Lady Tigers and returning head coach Todd Lowther had early-evening sessions. Rather than the extreme heat and high humidity often experienced in those time frames at this time of year, both Monday’s and Tuesday’s practices took place in very tolerable conditions in both regards. Peterson, replacing now-Southern Boone head coach Mark Ross at the MHS gridiron helm, had about 40 players in uniform at week’s start and Lowther said his program’s roster was 25 players deep.
