Almost 150 Missouri 4-H youths applied their evaluation and communication skills Sept. 10 during the University of Missouri Extension State 4-H Livestock Judging Contest at the Trowbridge Livestock Center on the MU campus in Columbia. Several youth from Linn County were honored. Linn County was also named one of the top three junior teams.

COLUMBIA — The University of Missouri Tigers made it a clear priority to get wide receiver Luther Burden III more involved in the team's final tuneup before entering Southeastern Conference football play, and the move paid immediate dividends in last Saturday's 3417 victory over Abilene Christian. After the Tigers' defense forced a threeand- out on the Wildcats' opening drive of the game, Burden received the ensuing punt on a bounce along the left sideline at his own 22yard line, then followed his blockers across the field before racing down the right stripe for a 78yard score.
KANSAS CITY — On the heels of an exquisite, senior-dominated, Class 1 state-runnerup season in 2021, the Marceline High School football Tigers and their fans continue to find the fit of the shoe being on their other foot quite uncomfortable. Transitioning both to an almost-entirely new group of starters and a new head coach, Marceline continued to experience significant growing pains last Saturday at Kansas City, sustaining a 26-0 shutout loss at the hands of the Hogan Prep Academy Rams.
