The 30th Farmers’ Electric Cooperative Area Youth Benefit Fund (AYBF) Dinner-Auction and Golf Tournament concluded with a successful turnout for 2022. The AYBF dinner-auction kicked off the events on Saturday evening, August 27, at the Chillicothe Elks Lodge. Last year, the auction was held as a two-week long online auction, so it was certainly nice to be able to get back together this year and see everyone in person.
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — When things went awry for Missouri last year, the defense was usually the culprit.
MARCELINE — In keeping with recent tradition, the prize of the Brookfield- vs.-Marceline high school football rivalry “Bell Game” ended last Friday night taking a bus ride to its new, temporary residence. The defense of the visiting Brookfield Bulldogs kept the host MHS Tigers’ offense off the scoreboard after Marceline moved 68 yards for a 7-0 lead on the game’s opening possession and the BHS offense moved the ball well enough to put up three scores, enabling the guests to reclaim the “bell” trophy with a 20-14 triumph at Chester Ray Stadium last Friday.
CLEVELAND (AP) — With one bold, unexpected move, the Cleveland Cavaliers raised their profile in the Eastern Conference considerably. They're back in the title hunt.
Last week was a mostly- happy one for the county’s high school softball teams, while the Marceline golf Lady Tigers prospered in their first home action of the fall. Marceline’s softball squad moved to 3-0 steamrolling Ewing: Highland, while Meadville’s team boosted its mark to 5-1 with a pair of victories and Brookfield (see story elsewhere in this section) was going 3-1 the latter part of the week.
Drivers in the market for a new or pre-owned vehicle over the last couple of years likely discovered that the process of buying a car or truck is as difficult as ever. Prior to and during the COVID-19 pandemic, factory closures, supply chain issues, semiconductor chip shortages, and a bevy of other complications led to fewer vehicles on lots and much higher sticker prices on cars that were on the lot. That has caused people who are on strict budgets to reevaluate priorities and timelines.
