County’s Smaller Hoops Schools Less Busy at Present

The four Class 1 high schools in Linn County had very limited high school basketball action the last half of last week with both Linn County R-1 and Meadville totally off the game court. Mendon: Northwestern split its Carroll- Livingston Activity Association road doubleheader with Hardin-Central, taking the boys’ contest 53-33 to improve to 7-3 overall and 4-1 in the conference and dropping the girls’ contest 53-23 to slip to 3-7 overall and 2-3 in the loop.

Marceline Basketball Teams Salvage One Late-Week Win to Conclude 2022

A non-conference triumph by the Lady Tigers was the only solace for the Marceline High School basketball teams during their action the latter half of last week. After dropping Lewis and Clark Conference home contests to Schuyler County last Thursday – including the boys surrendering 106 points in an 81-points loss to the Rams, MHS split with non-league foe La Plata at home the next night.

Marceline’s Dauber, Griffin, Weese ‘Katy Trail’ Mat Tourney Champions

SEDALIA — Led by individual champions Payton Weese, Maddie Dauber, and Drew Griffin, Marceline High School’s wrestling squads brought home second- and third-place team honors from last weekend’s “Battle at the Katy Trail” tournament. Havingnotonlythetwotitle-winners, but also eight other top-10 finishers in the tournament that involved more than 40 schools, the Lady Tigers took second behind Brookfield with 345 points, four points more than thirdplace Polo.
