Harold Lloyd Rankin, Sr., 82, of New Cambria, MO, passed away at his home on Friday, December 23, 2022. Funeral services will be 2: 00 pm, Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the United Church of New Cambria in New Cambria.

Charles Albert Bowe

Charles Albert Bowe, 93, of Brookfield, passed away, Monday, December 26, 2022, at LaVerna Nursing Center in Savannah, Missouri, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 31, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. beginning with an Elks Session of Sorrow at Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield, with Pastor David Blakley officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials to the National Parkinson’s Foundation or Park Baptist Church may be left at or mailed to Wright Funeral Home, P.O. Box 496, Brookfield, MO 64628. Charles, son of William J. and Lala Ruth (Cook) Bowe, was born May 6, 1929, in the community of Chula, Missouri. On July 1, 1956, he married Beverly Ann Enyeart at the Park Baptist Church in Brookfield. Charles and Beverly celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in July. They enjoyed swing music of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s and attending antique auctions, after retirement Charles and Beverly spent several winters in Corpus Christi, TX, New Orleans, LA and to Buloxi, MI for golfing adventures. Charles attended Brookfield High School where he was very active in Sports. He played on the undefeated, untied and unscored upon football team of 1947. He helped organize and start the Peewee and Little League football teams in Brookfield in 1965. He also won the North Central Missouri Golden Gloves Boxing championship. Charles enlisted in the United States Navy in 1948 and was honorably discharged from the Navy on the 13th day of March 1952. During his four years of service, he played football and was chosen to be on the Navy Dream Team. He was attached to the recreation department where he boxed, coached boxing and was a swimming instructor. Charles also served in the Korean War. Meadville Girls Maul Winston in KC Event

The only county Class 1 high school basketball teams with action between Christmas and New Year’s – Meadville’s girls and boys – split their action last Thursday in the “12 Courts of Christmas” shootout at Hy-Vee Arena (old Kemper Arena) in Kansas City. The Lady Eagles (10-0) overwhelmed Winston’s Lady redbirds 91-21, putting five scorers in double digits and having double-doubles in points and steals from their Carvajal sisters.

New troopers assigned to Linn, Chartion counties

Captain Erik A. Gottman, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announced Trooper Carter L. Munch and Trooper Jorden R. Billings have been assigned to Troop B. Trooper Munch and Trooper Billings were members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s 115th Recruit Class that began training on July 5, 2022, and graduated from the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy on December 22, 2022. The new troopers from the 115th Recruit Class will report for duty on January 9, 2023.
