The Marceline Police Department reports the following for February 20-26. February 20 - Officers received a report of a C&I driver near Highway 5 and Morton Road.
On February 28, the Marceline Tigers Scholar Bowl team competed in a quad meet at Knox County. The JV only ended up with two matches, and went 2-0 over both Knox (190--110) and Scotland (190-160) Counties. The Varsity went 1-2, losing to Knox (230-250) and Canton (200280), but winning over Scotland (230-100).
The first meeting of the Marceline History Connection took place on Monday, February 27 at the Marceline Carnegie Library. Eight people were in attendance, with several others having shown interest, but were unable to attend at the time.
The Marceline Nutrition Center is located at 229 W. Hauser. Please call ahead at 660-376-3103 to reserve a carry-out meal, which will be ready at 11 a.m. Dine-in meals begin at 11:30 a.m. Suggested contribution is $3 per meal. 8 oz. lowfat milk is offered at every meal.
There is a $3 suggested contribution for meals for those 60 years and over and $6.75 cost for meals for those 59 years and under. Meals are delivered Monday thru Friday, from 10:30 a.m., – 12 p.m., except on holidays.

Unbeaten Lady Eagles hold state-quarterfinals foe to 23 points last Saturday MOBERLY — Having seen a quick start in their state-tournament- opening game against North Shelby four nights earlier offset by a second- and third-quarters recovery by the tall, talented Lady Raiders, Meadville High School’s “mighty mites” were poised and prepared for the more-patient approach their head coach invoked when a similar situation arose in last Saturday’s Class 1 state tournament quarterfinal contest against St. Elizabeth’s Lady Hornets.
Missouri’s annual paddlefish (spoonbill) snagging season will open next week on Wednesday, March 15, and will run through April 30 on all popular snagging waters in the state. Missouri’s in-state spoonbill snagging “hotspots” are Lake of the Ozarks, Harry S.
Main Street Brookfield has initiated a new program – “This Place Matters” – to recognize business or building owners for building improvements. Improvement Spotlights for the month of February/March are: DeVoy-Baker Insurance and Fleas ‘n Tiques. Business owners, Kevin, Brenda, and Blake DeVoy and Jim and Kate Bergman, are recognized for their outstanding restoration of historic sites on Brookfield’s Main Street.
