BARBARA JO BEACH

Barbara Jo Beach, age 87, of Spring Hill, KS; formally from Brookfield, MO; passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Colonial Oaks Senior Living in Spring Hill, KS. Barbara Jo, daughter of Paul John and Laura Mae (Hargadine) Harbaugh, was born on October 23, 1935, in Laclede, MO. Barbara was united into marriage to Dale Leroy Beach on November 17, 1962 at the Laclede Methodist Church in Laclede, MO. Dale and Barbara shared 59 years together before his passing on March 5, 2022. Barbara was a member of the United Methodist Church in Brookfield and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority since 1963. She was a secretary for the Brookfield R-III School District for many years. They spent their retirement years traveling and always loved the time they spent during the winter months in Corpus Christi, TX. She lived in Brookfield until 2013. Barbara liked to read, go for walks, play computer games, go camping, and loved spending time with her family. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Sherri Bowman and husband Marvin of Kansas City, MO; one daughter-in-law, Christie Beach of Corpus Christi, TX; four grandchildren, Brian Kyle Beach II and Paul Jeffery “PJ” Beach of Corpus Christi; Kelsey Bowman of Overland Park, KS; and Nathan Bowman of Omaha, NE; three great-grandchildren, Bryse, Xander, and Riley Jo Beach of Corpus Christi; and several nieces, nephews, and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Laura Harbaugh, husband, Dale Beach, one son, Brian Kyle Beach, and three sisters, Leila Jean Harbaugh, Beverly Lou Spidle, and Carolyn Sue Fitzgerald. Funeral services will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Brookfield, MO; at 2:00 pm. Saturday, April 1, 2023, with Reverend Lee Porch officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Garden Cemetery, Brookfield, MO. A scheduled visitation will be held at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Brookfield, MO; at 1:00 pm. Better Days Prom was the “Best Day”

Creative Pathways hosted the second annual Better Days Prom Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the Locust Creek Event Center in Brookfield. This year’s prom theme was “Under the Sea” and the event center was festooned with balloons and an ocean-themed walkway tunnel for guests to walk through as they were announced during the Grand March. Guests arrived in semi-formal and formal attire. The Grand March, open to the public, included friends and family of the guests and staff members.

Governor announces over $94 million awarded through Community Revitalization Grant Program

Including $250,000 to North Central Missouri Mental Health Center in Linn County Governor Mike Parson announced that the Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) has awarded more than $94 million through the Community Revitalization Grant Program for 70 projects across the state. The program, funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and part of Governor Parson's Fiscal Year 2023 budget plan, is focused on investing in communities of all sizes to support local priorities, encourage economic recovery, and build resilience for the future.

Annual change from chloramines to chlorine in Brookfield, Marceline

On Monday, April 3, 2023, the City of Marceline in conjunction with the City of Brookfield and Public Water Supply District Number 3 will be making its annual change from chloramines to chlorine. Every year, the Cities of Marceline, Brookfield and Public Water Supply District Number 3 (PWSD # 3) implement an annual flushing program, according to Marceline City Manager Richard Hoon.

Meadville Girls Set Defensive, Offensive State Marks in Earning State Crown

En route to their undefeated Class 1 state championship, the 2022-23 Meadville High School basketball Lady Eagles shredded opponents with often-devastating defensive pressure that, over the course of their 31 victories in 31 tries, led to a couple of new state records as a team and nearly an individual state mark. With the MHS girls’ historic season now fully in the books, their start-tofinish perfection is only beginning to grow in stature.
