Despite posting two of the three-best individual scores, the Marceline High School golf Tigers couldn’t successfully defend their team crown in the Lewis and Clark Conference Championships last Thursday in the face of superiority quality and depth from Salisbury. Tiger Lance O’Dell fired an 18-holes round of 78 to be tournament runnerup and teammate Braden Lichtenberg’s 81 was the next-best score, but MHS’ next-two-best rounds were in the middle 90s.
Spring weather hasn’t been conducive to fishing so far this year, but some die-hard anglers already have been trying for that “big one” and two were successful in landing new state records during March. With the record blue sucker caught in January, this brings the new records for 2023 up to three.
A newly elected and reorganized Marceline R-V School Board got down to business in their inaugural meeting on April 17, 2023—days after the April 4 municipal election. President Adam Stallo presided over the regular board meeting, and board member Walter Heller started his new board duties as vice-president.

Tractor Supply Company, the largest rural lifestyle retailer in the United States, announced last week that the Brookfield location of Orscheln Farm & Home has begun its transition to Tractor Supply. The initial phase includes rolling out Tractor Supply’s Neighbor’s Club rewards program. The Brookfield store is one of 81 Orscheln Farm & Home locations Tractor Supply acquired in October 2022. All will be converted to Tractor Supply by the end of 2023.
Brookfield Community Chest accepting applications Brookfield Community Chest will be accepting applications for grant money from a April 25-May 25. Organizations that meet the 501(c)(3) tax exempt status may apply. Applications are available at the Brookfield City office or by request from BACC at Box 563, Brookfield, Mo 64628.
