R-V School Board celebrates K-12 APR Score, prepares for reorganization

With the changing of seasons, changes also come to the Marceline R-V District School Board cabinet, as reorganization will take place after the yesterday’s election. Current vice-president Adam Stallo presided over the March 20 board meeting, as requested by president Lex Cavanah at February’s meeting. Cavanah announced his resignation from the board earlier this year.

Scholar Bowl team places at OMAR tournament

The Marceline R-V High School Scholar Bowl team had its first event in a month with a Saturday, April 1 visit to the OMAR tournament in Moberly. The school took two teams, which placed 11th and 22nd overall. The A team also took 3rd in the consolation pool in the afternoon session. Jackson Fetherlin made the All-Tournament team in 8th place individually, averaging 44 points per game and leading the event with the most power points in the preliminary rounds. The teams next action will be on April 15 as they host the District Tournament.

Marceline, Brookfield Get Some Baseball Games Played, Win Only One

While Major League Baseball was getting its new season underway late last week with improved ingame pace of play, the pace of high school baseball action also picked up in the county, even if results were not that favorable for the Brookfield and Marceline teams. Brookfield did outlast Carrollton 14-13 at home last Thursday, three days after its delayed season opener saw it drop a 12-3 decision to visiting Ewing: Highland.
