Brookfield, Marceline High Track-and-Field Teams Into Postseason Tomorrow

Having wrapped up generally mediocre 2024 seasons, Brookfield’s and Marceline’s high school track-and-field teams will start trying to advance runners, jumpers and throwers to the May 17-18 Class 2 state meet tomorrow when they participate in the district meet at Monroe City.Any MHS or BHS athletes who place in the top four of an event tomorrow advance to next Saturday’s state-qualifying sectional meet at Mokane (South Callaway High School) near Jefferson City. Both of the county’s largest schools were in a pair of competitions in the past 10 days, including their respective conference meets, with some individual successes, but not a significant amount. In the Lewis and Clark Conference meet at Paris this past Monday, Marceline swept the boys’ hurdles races and the boys’ 1,600-meters relay, but both teams finished in the lower half of the 8-schools team standings.State prospect Caleb Stallo took the 110-meters high hurdles in 16 seconds flat and Hudson Schmitt prevailed in the 300 intermediates in 47.48 seconds.
