• Navigating Medicare can be confusing, but Pershing Health System is offering a free opportunity to help simplify the process. On Wed., Sept. 10, at 10:30 a.m., community members are invited to attend an informational session titled “Understanding Your Medicare Options & Simplifying It” at the Pershing Health System Hospital Dining Room, 130 E. Lockling Street in Brookfield. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by calling 660-258-1263, so enough cinnamon rolls and coffee will be ready for everyone.

• A special community gathering will be held at noon at the Twin Parks Pavilion in Brookfield to honor the men and women who gave their lives while trying to protect and save others. The event will feature guest speaker Matt Bowen of the Linn County Ambulance District and music will be provided by the Brookfield High School band and choir, including a moving trumpet performance. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

• Brookfield High School Homecoming Day festivities will include the Parade and Decorating Contest at 2 p.m., with floats, classic cars, tractors, ATVs, and more marching through town. Winners of the decorating contest will be announced during halftime of the evening’s football game.

• The North Missouri Solid Waste Management District (NMSWMD) announced an upcoming public meeting in Brookfield to gather essential feedback on proposed updates to the region’s Solid Waste Management Plan. Area residents and stakeholders are strongly encouraged to attend and share their insights on current and future needs for recycling and solid waste disposal in the region, and ideas for reuse and recovery strategies to help divert materials from the landfill.
The meeting will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 10 a.m., to 12 p.m., at the Brookfield City Hall located at 101 W Brooks Street, Brookfield, Mo.

• Bell Game Bash starts at 5:30 p.m., in the parking lot next to the License Bureau will be transformed into a hub of energy, laughter, and Bulldog pride—just in time for kickoff of the season’s biggest football rivalry. This is a free community event.
October 25
• 1st Annual 5K Color Run & Walk on Sat., Oct. 25, at 2 p.m. The event is being held in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and will raise funds for SEV (Saving Every Victim), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting survivors and families affected by breast cancer and other challenges. Participants of all ages are welcome. Registration is $30 for ages 12 and up, $15 for kids ages 4–12, and free for children 4 and under. After the race, everyone is invited to stick around for a lively after-party celebration filled with fun, music, and community spirit. More information to come.
November 1
• The YMCA Annual Benefit Dinner and Auction. The evening will feature a silent auction at 5 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m., and a live auction at 7 p.m.
December 6
• Downtown Brookfield’s Christmas Celebration. The holiday season in Brookfield will kick off with a festive Christmas event featuring decorations, holiday lights, and community cheer.
