Brookfield Lions Club Launches Food Drive With Matching Challenge

BROOKFIELD – The Brookfield Lions Club is stepping up to fight hunger in Linn County with a canned food drive taking place now through Sept. 22. With the local pantry in urgent need of donations, the Lions are calling on the community to help stock the shelves—and they’re offering an added incentive.

For every item donated, the Brookfield Lions Club has pledged to match it can for can, doubling the impact of contributions. Organizers say the effort reflects the club’s commitment to serving local families in need.

Donations of canned goods and non-perishable items may be dropped off at the YMCA, Verimore Bank, or the McCurry residence during the collection period. All items gathered will be donated directly to the Linn County Food Pantry.

The Lions Club is urging residents to participate, noting that even small contributions can make a big difference when matched. “Lend a hand, give a can” is the theme of this year’s drive, reminding the community that neighbors helping neighbors is what keeps Linn County strong.
