Mitchell C. McGowan, age 88 of Marceline, died Friday, June 24, 2022 at Pioneer Skilled Nursing Center, Marceline. Mitchell was born in Marceline, Missouri on July 2, 1933 to Clyde and Agnes Lorraine (Morris) McGowan. He married Rose Marie Smith in 1953 and she survives him.

Mitchell attended grade school at Hurricane Branch in Mendon and graduated from Marceline High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and worked as a heavy equipment operator, farmer and also as a truck driver.

He is survived by his wife Rose Marie of the home in Marceline, three sons, Dennis McGowan and Cheryl of Columbia, Matt McGowan and Anna of Marceline, and Mark McGowan of the home in Marceline, two daughters, Kim Othic and Jeanette Engelhard, both of Marceline, two sisters, Anna Lieber of Denver, Colorado and Patsy Gladfelder of Butler, Missouri, fourteen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ray and Gene, son-in-law Scot Othic and infant son Mitch.

Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 PM Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Delaney Funeral Home in Marceline. Military Honors will be at 2:30 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Marceline.
