• The Brookfield Public Library invites community members of all ages to join in on a festive Story Time and Crafts session on Nov. 21. The event, which runs from 4:30-5 p.m., promises an afternoon of storytelling and creativity for families and individuals eager to get into the Thanksgiving spirit.
November 23

• A benefit event for Jamie Niemeier will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Walsworth Community Center. The event, organized by friends and family, will feature a chili dinner and a live auction conducted by Sayre Auction LLC. All proceeds will go directly toward Jamie’s medical and travel expenses to KU Medical Center, where she is undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
• Christmas Craft Extravaganza, a festive gathering of talented crafters from across the area. This one-day event will take place on Nov. 23, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Thorne Center in Linneus. It’s the perfect opportunity to find unique, handmade gifts and support small craft businesses.
November 24

November 28
• The Meadville Lions Club is hosting a Turkey Trot 5K starting at 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 28. Participants who are interested are invited to come for a run or walk. Meeting up at the intersection of West Crandall and Linn Street, groups will get together to register. Registration is $25 per person for all ages. Cash or check is accepted and may be payable to Meadville Lions Club and sent to Dillan Hull, 207 W. John, Meadville MO 64659. Registration to ensure a commemorative T-shirt ends Nov. 1. To register, a paper form can be picked up at Bank of Brookfield-Purdin in Meadville or go online at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScuIln_GP5-h5FqbAcEOwYwXGqqu2vgW_2XDypmI5tJFGM_rA/viewform. All proceeds from the Turkey Trot will benefit the Linn County Food Pantry.
• Community Thanksgiving Dinner, free and no reservations are required. The sit down meal begins at 11:28 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church 305 E. Howell, Marceline, in the Christian Life Center.
November 30

• The Walsworth Community Center will be transformed into a winter wonderland on Saturday, Nov. 30, as it hosts the annual Holiday Craft Frenzy. This festive event, running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., promises a full day of holiday shopping and fun for the whole family.
Local vendors will showcase a wide variety of handcrafted items, perfect for holiday gifts or unique seasonal decorations. The WCC Concession Stand will be open throughout the day,
December 3
• The Marceline City Council will hold a public hearing regarding the city’s utility rates on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m. The hearing will be held at the High School Auditorium inside the Marceline High School building.
Those who are concerned or have questions about the proposed increase of utility rates are encouraged to attend.
December 7
• “Miracles on Main Street” Christmas Celebration on Dec. 7, from 1-5 p.m., in Brookfield. Starting at 1 p.m. visitors can enjoy wagon rides, mini train rides, and a chance to visit with Santa Claus. Businesses along Main Street will be open with treats for guests, and there will be opportunities for photos with the Grinch, a Christmas photo booth, kids’ crafts, holiday music, and more. Maps of all activities will be available at participating businesses.
At 5 p.m., the Christmas Parade will begin on North Main Street, featuring festive floats, marching bands, and holiday displays. The parade will conclude with a special tree lighting ceremony to officially kick off the holiday season. Parade participants will line up at 4:30 p.m. at the Methodist Church.
December 8
• The Meadville Lions Club is hosting a special event Dec. 8 from 2-4 p.m. with a special visit from the North Pole. Cookies and Cocoa with Santa will be held at the Meadville Community Center located at 106 W. Crandall in Meadville. Families are invited to come drink cocoa and have a chat with Santa. The event is free and open to the public.
December 21
• Lollipops and gumdrops! A Candyland event presented by the Brookfield Parks & Recreation will be held Dec. 21 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at #1 Center Drive in Brookfield. More information and details are yet to come. Be sure to watch for additional information about the festive holiday event.
