The Linn County Health Department is encouraging residents to protect themselves during the fall and winter seasons by offering flu and updated COVID-19 vaccinations. Both services are available by appointment to ensure timely access before the holidays.
Flu shots are offered for adults on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-4 p.m. Appointments are preferred, and individuals with Medicare or Medicaid are advised to bring their insurance card. High-dose flu shots are also available for individuals aged 65 and older.
For children under 18, flu vaccinations are available during scheduled immunization clinics by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call 660-258-7251.
The 2024–2025 COVID-19 vaccine is also now available to help protect against circulating strains. Everyone aged 6 months and older is encouraged to receive this updated vaccine, especially those at high risk, including individuals over 65, those in long-term care facilities, or those who have never received a COVID-19 vaccine.
COVID-19 vaccines are available by appointment only. The Health Department cannot provide COVID-19 vaccines to individuals with Medicare or Medicaid but can assist in locating an alternative provider.
Both vaccines are helpful in reducing severe illness, hospitalization, and complications during flu season and winter months.
