Photo-Caption:Despite having pitched 1-1/3 innings in relief three nights earlier, 2023 Lafayette County (Higginsville) High School graduate Josiah Golden, was called on to start the Chillicothe Mudcats’ crucial home finale against MINK League North Division leader St. Joseph last Thursday and did splendidly. He shut out the Mustangs on one hit through five innings before allowing another hit and two walks to start the sixth before being lifted from a contest St. Joseph eventually won, 9-8. The Johnson County (Kan.) Community College-bound Golden lived up to his surname after being added to the Mudcats’ roster in late June, winning three games without a loss in only five appearances and averaging allowing less than one hit and striking more than one man per inning.
