A funeral service will be Saturday, September 15, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, Brookfield with Gail Brown officiating.  Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Sumner; Military Rites will be rendered by the Swan Lake American Legion Post 586.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 in the evening at the funeral home; an Elks Session of Sorrow will begin at 5:45 p.m.
Memorials to any of Sumner charitable organizations, Sumner Community Park, Swan Lake American Legion Post 586, Swan Lake Sportsman’s Club, Friends of Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge, or the Sumner United Methodist Church may be left at or mailed to Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home, PO Box 496, Brookfield, MO 64628.
Donald Dean, son of Elisha and Sarah (Beemer) Foster, was born November 24, 1934, in Sumner. In 1960 he married Karen Norris and March 9, 1981, he married Lurene Ruffcorn.
Donald Dean farmed and raised hogs all of his life and was owner of the Foster Sportsman Inn in Sumner.
He was a 1952 graduate of Northwestern High School. He was a US Marine Corps Veteran serving from 1956 until 1959 and was a member of the Swan Lake American Legion Post 586 in Sumner and the General Black Jack Pershing Memorial VFW Post 4557 in Brookfield. He served on the American Revolution Bicentennial Commission to raise funds for the “Maxie” Goose statue in Sumner and served on the board of the Sumner Community Park. He was also a member of the Brookfield Elks Lodge and the Brookfield Eagles.
Survivors include his wife, Lurene Foster of the home; his daughter Brenda Foster of Browning; two grandchildren, Daniel Foster and Paula Foster both of Browning; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Wayne Foster and wife, Theresa of Sumner, Gene Foster and wife, Wilma of Hale, and Jerrold Foster and wife, Joan of Sumner; and one sister, Joy Shatford and husband, Jack of El Dorado Springs.
His parents; one brother, John Foster; and one sister, Doris Linscott, preceded him in death.
