Fire broke out late last night at Jerry's Café on Highway JJ.

According to Darryl Rassmussen of Moberly Fire Department, the fire started due to an undetermined electrical device overheating. The device was plugged into an extension cord.

The inside of the building received "extensive damage" caused by heat and smoke, he noted. The south wall, which is where the fire is believed to have started, received substantial fire damage extending into the attic.
