Betty Lou Hainds-Stauffer, age 78, of Marceline, Missouri, died Monday, April 25, 2022, at Pioneer Skilled Nursing in Marceline, Missouri. Betty was born in Marceline, Missouri, on December 22, 1943, to Paul and Judith Baker.
Betty worked as a nurse for many years across the state. She cared for those suffering from illness at Pioneer Nursing Home, Moberly Medical Center, Pershing Memorial Hospital, the University of Missouri Hospitals and Clinics, and the Chillicothe Correctional Center, among many others. Her compassion and skills as a Registered Nurse touched innumerable lives throughout her long career. She always thought of the needs of others before her own.
After retirement, Betty enjoyed traveling, crafting, and spending time with her beloved children and grandchildren. Her mastery of crocheting, knitting, beading, embroidering, and numerous other special skills were a wonder to behold. She also was a wonderful musician, having played the piano and organ (from a young age.) She served as the church organist at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Mendon, MO, for over 20 years.
She is survived by her children, Mark Hainds (Katia) of Andalusia, AL, Billie Hainds (Cory Watkins) of Cottondale, AL, and Curtis Hainds of Chicago, IL. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Marissa and Dylan Hainds. She was preceded in death by her siblings Arlin Baker and Linda Korte, her grandson Joseph Hainds, first husband, Billy Hainds, second husband, William Stauffer, and her life partner, Ernest Dillard.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Delaney Funeral Home in Marceline with visitation starting at 10 AM. Burial will be in the Locke Cemetery south of Marceline.
