Beverly Jean Hicks, age 86 of Brookfield, MO. passed away quietly into the arms of her heavenly Father on Friday, February 18, 2022 at Life Care Center of Brookfield, Brookfield, MO.
Jean was born on October 20, 1935 in Brookfield, MO; daughter of the late Earl Wayne Lewis and Mavis Maurine (Gosney) Lewis. She was united in marriage to Jessie “Jess” Lee Hicks on December 24, 1952 in Brookfield, MO. Jess preceded her in death on March17, 2010.
Jean was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, and also attended South Eagle Church, VFW Auxiliary in Brookfield, and the Order of the Eastern Star in Brookfield. Jean enjoyed tending to her garden and canning all that it produced. She loved to visit on the phone and making conversations with anyone who would listen. She enjoyed cooking for her family and for get-togethers. She was especially known her homemade pies, they were everyone’s favorite. Taking care of her family and grandkids was everything to her. She will be forever missed.
Jean is survived by her two sons, Garry Hicks and wife Becky of Moberly, MO; and Larry Hicks and wife Nancy of Higginsville, MO; eleven grandchildren, Darren Stanley, Doug Stanley and wife Gwen, Kara Hook and husband Benjamin, Ryan Lee Hicks and wife Kyndall, C.J. Hayter, Tiffany Thornton and husband Randy, Stephanie Farrow and husband Ryan, Jeni Schooley and husband Jesse, Jason Hicks, Felicia Cartee, and Jessica Hicks and fiancé Daniel; thirty two great grandchildren, and many other nieces, nephews, and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jess, daughter Melinda Stanley, brother Ronnie Lewis, and two sisters, Judy Gregston and Bette Ann Gash.
There will be a Visitation and Private Family Funeral Service, and Burial. Services are under the directions of the Rhodes Funeral Home, Brookfield, MO. In lieu of flowers family have suggested memorial donations to be made to the Brookfield VFW Post 4557 Auxiliary and /or the Order of the Eastern Star in Brookfield and mailed to the Rhodes Funeral Home, 216 Linn Street, Brookfield, MO. 64628.
