The Annual Salisbury-VanDyke Reunion, which has been on hold since 2018, was held Sunday, June 5, 2022, at the Meadville Community Center. More next week! Linn County Memorial Unit 538, American Legion Auxiliary, will meet Monday, June 13, at 4 p.m.

Fundraising is through July 1 for the Brookfield Junction Park, located at the corner of North Main Street and East Boston Street near Brookfield Library. Bricks are $100 for 4"x8".

There is a $3 suggested contribution for meals for those 60 years and over and $6.75 cost for meals for those 59 years and under. Meals are delivered Monday thru Friday, from 10:30 – 12:00, except on holidays.

Are you ready to have some fun and learn about heritage arts? Join area artisans at the Ronald Wilder Traditional Arts Center on Saturday, June 4 to see looms, spinning wheels, inkle looms, forges, and other heritage tools in action? Or maybe you would like to see how it feels to throw a shuttle or draft some fiber? The Traditional Arts Center is located in the basement of the Bethel Black History Museum formerly the Bethel AME Church, acfross the street from the Grand River Historical Society, with plenty of on-street parking. There will be opportunities to learn, create and even purchase items from local artisans. Kid’s activities will include tie-dyeing, spindling, and more! And you won’t have to leave the site to find food thanks to Daniel Savage and the Elks who will be cooking up a storm with hot dogs and burgers and cool soda to wash it down. Lemonade will also be for sale – all proceeds going to the Museum to fund upcoming programs. Music and additional exhibits in the Bethel Black History Museum, so bring an instrument and “jam” with local musicians - the acoustics are amazing! Antique vehicles will also be on display as well as new exhibits at the main Museum building including a Jerry Litton exhibit. So bring the whole family on June 4 and celebrate our heritage at the Museum.
American Red Cross Blood Drive June 6 An American Red Cross Blood drive is being held from 1:30-5:30 p.m., June 6 at the Walsworth Community Center, 124 E Ritchie St., Marceline. Wright Funeral Home 75th Anniversary Celebration Wright Funeral Home, Brookfield, is celebrating its 75th Anniversary with a community celebration.

Brookfield High School (BHS) recently announced Endeavor Winners. Winners are Charlee Reese-$250, Ross Ehrich-$500, and Ethan Huwar-$1000. Sponsors include Smith Motors, Stanbury Uniforms, Bank of Brookfield-Purdin, First MO Bank and Brookfield Fab.
