MHS FBLA students take part in American Enterprise Day

On Nov. 9, Marceline High School (MHS) FBLA members memorialized American Enterprise Day. American Enterprise Day, observed November 15 nationally, celebrates the right to own a business without interference from the government. Free enterprise defends our dignity, expands the potential of us as humans, and helps create a safe and free country. They started their day with a speech from Kaye Mallins, the director of Marceline Downtown as well as the Marceline Hometown Museum. Students were educated on the importance of giving back to the community and local career opportunities. The FBLA club was then given business tours of the Moore Company, 911 Linn County Dispatch, the Walsworth South Plant, and Allstate Consultants. Following lunch catered by Prengers, the students did a trivia hunt in Ripley Park as well as a business creation activity where they had to create a new downtown business district. They were then able to present their business concept to judges Zach Bruner, Marceline R-V Superintendent, Richard Hoon, Marceline City Manager, Cindi Rodgers, Agent at All State Insurance and Kay Mallins.
