The Chariton River Bridge on Chariton County Route 129, 0.5 miles south of Route O near Salisbury, is now open. The Missouri Department of Transportation contracted with Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. to complete the bridge deck replacement project, which began in September 2022.
The 61st annual Peanut Night was held Nov. 26 in downtown Marceline. Vehicles were backed up along Main Street waiting to get the $1 bags of peanuts featuring prizes from area businesses. The event serves as the kick-off the Christmas in Marceline and includes Santa visits, lighting of the yule log and turning on the lights in Ripley Park.
Marceline Eagles #726 Community Project The Marceline Eagles #726 is heading up a Community Christmas Project for residents of Pioneer Nursing Home and Marceline’s Bristol Manner. The club is seeking donations of items for shower caddys for each resident.
Linn County Food Pantry The Linn County Food Pantry hours are from 9 -11:00 a.m. Monday through Friday except on holidays. The pantry is located behind the Trinity United Methodist Church in Brookfield. Contact the Food Ministry at 660-258-7071 to make arrangements for donations. Food and nonfood items are needed at this time.
Steve VanDyke spent a few days with his mother, Jean VanDyke. On Thanksgiving Day they were guests of the Harold VanDyke family.
There is a $3 suggested contribution for meals for those 60 years and over and $6.75 cost for meals for those 59 years and under. Meals are delivered Monday thru Friday, from 10:30 a.m., – 12 p.m., except on holidays.
Preliminary data from the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) shows young hunters ages 6-15 harvested 2,881 deer during Missouri’s late youth portion of the 2022 deer hunting season, Nov. 25-27. Of the 2,881 deer harvested, 1,302 were antlered bucks, 322 were button bucks, and 1,257 were does.
