South Main Bakery opens just in time for the holidays
It’s a little white building with a huge driveway across the street from Prenger Foods and Ace Hardware on the east side of South Main Street in Brookfield. But behind South Main Bakery’s teal-colored latticed door each morning are the welcoming aromas of fresh-brewed coffee and freshly-baked goods—most likely cinnamon rolls and sticky buns, two of the most popular items purchased by customers.

Area youth present ‘The Christmas Puzzle’
The cast of 'The Christmas Puzzle' performed their Christmas program musical at First Baptist Church during Peanut Night. The Christmas program was performed for a full house audience with impromptu cast members filling in at the last minute.

Marceline Eagles #726 Community Project The Marceline Eagles #726 is heading up a Community Christmas Project for residents of Pioneer Nursing Home and Marceline’s Bristol Manner. The club is seeking donations of items for shower caddys for each resident.
Giving Back: Neighbor Helping Neighbor
Linn County Food Pantry The Linn County Food Pantry hours are from 9 -11:00 a.m. Monday through Friday except on holidays. The pantry is located behind the Trinity United Methodist Church in Brookfield. Contact the Food Ministry at 660-258-7071 to make arrangements for donations. Food and nonfood items are needed at this time.

Father McCartan celebrates 65 years
Father McCartan Memorial School celebrated its 65th birthday at its current location on Friday, November 18. The celebration, with a Hawaiian theme, took place on the 65th day of the current school year.

Neighbor helping Neighbor: Red Kettle donations
It is that time of the year when we will start seeing the iconic red kettles and the friendly, familiar faces of the volunteers from the local churches ringing the hand-held bells and trying to fill the empty red kettle.
