Brookfield Knights to Host Fish Fries

The Brookfield Knights of Columbus will be hosting a series of fish fry events this spring, offering a delicious meal to the community while supporting a local cause. The fish fry will take place on three Fridays: March 14, March 28, and April 11, from 4:30- 7 p.m. The event will be held in the Catholic School basement at 210 West John Street in Brookfield.

Marceline Fire Association Donates Portable Video Laryngoscope to PHS Emergency Department

BROOKFIELD - The Marceline Fire Association has generously donated a portable video laryngoscope to the Pershing Health System (PHS) Emergency Department, made possible through memorial donations received by the association. These funds are reinvested into the community to support essential medical services by purchasing life-saving equipment.

Tschannen Presents to Brookfield Rotary

This week the Brookfield Rotary Club welcomed Pershing Hospital employee Megan Tschannen, Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner for this week’s program. Megan is from Marceline and is married to William Tschannen who is also a Pershing Practitioner. Megan works in Pershing’s Community Medical Associates and is in her office there Monday through Thursday, 8-5 p.m. She is also available by phone at other times.

Missouri Lawmakers Question Unused Rail Safety Funds Even After Mendon Derailment

JEFFERSON CITY - Missouri lawmakers are scrutinizing the state’s railroad crossing safety efforts after learning that funds allocated for improvements last year were not fully utilized. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has requested $49 million dollars in the upcoming state budget to enhance rail crossings across Missouri, but Senate Appropriations Chair is pressing for answers on why all of last year’s funding went unspent.
