Fire danger is a serious threat to much of the country. Alaska, California, Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Washington and many more states are currently battling wildfires. While lightning and other natural causes are responsible for some of these fires, human error can be blamed for many. Precaution could save tens of thousands of acres and more importantly, lives.

Kenneth Dean Harper was sentenced on Aug. 2 to two life sentences, plus 15 years in Missouri Department of Corrections. He was found guilty on June 14 by a Linn County jury of eight counts of Statutory Sodomy in the First Degree; nine counts of Statutory Rape in the First Degree and two counts of First Degree Child Molestation.
Pecans are tasty offerings that are ideal in both savory dishes and desserts. Like fruits of other members of the hickory genus of trees, pecans are not truly nuts, but drupes. A drupe is a fruit with a single stone or pit surrounded by a husk. With pecans, the outer husk dries out and splits open, exposing the "nuts" inside.

There is a $3 suggested contribution for meals for those 60 years and over and $6.75 cost for meals for those 59 years and under. Meals are delivered Monday thru Friday, from 10:30 a.m., – 12 p.m., except on holidays.

On Aug. 2, Christopher Nault was sentenced to 15 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
The Pershing Health System recently completed the 2022 Summer Community Service Project. This year Pershing Health System chose to collaborate with the Linn County Buddy Pack Program. The Buddy Pack Program provides weekend meals throughout the school year for students in Linn County. Pershing staff raised $2,224.37 through employee donations; Pershing Health System Administration donated another $5000, for a grand total of $7,224.37 given to support Linn County children.
