Friday evening, July 15, the Sumner American Legion Swan Lake Post 586 and Unit 586 Auxiliary hosted the 2022 Boys and Girls State delegates and their families at the Sumner Legion Hall. Post Commander Robert Gladbach and Auxiliary Chair Pat Phillips introduced the delegates, who then gave a briefing on their session experience. On July 16, 4 H-er Ambrose Hill, grandson of Ralph Thomas of Bucklin, competes in the Henry County, Missouri 4-H dog show. Ambrose's dog Rainbow, interprets the command lie down, his own way.

Successfully transitioning a family farming business to the next generation doesn’t happen overnight. University of Missouri Extension agricultural business specialist Wesley Tucker says it takes planning and “communication, communication, communication.” To help families start the succession planning process and initiate communication, Tucker and an MU Extension team will lead two-hour workshops across the state in July and August.
