The Marceline R-V School District recently hired Austin Bruner as the new Special Education and Federal Programs Director. He comes to the district with seven years of experience in education.
Kevin Abbott, 43, Marceline, has been charged with multiple felonies after he allegedly threatened a child and shot a gun out of a car window on July 1, when - according to probable cause statements - he was at a home in Brookfield to pick up two children for the weekend.

There is a $3 suggested contribution for meals for those 60 years and over and $6.75 cost for meals for those 59 years and under. Meals are delivered Monday thru Friday, from 10:30 – 12:00, except on holidays.
Hundreds came to Ripley Park in downtown Marceline between June 30-July 4 to take part in an annual July 4 tradition-the Marceline Carnival - which featured a variety of rides, games and food for people of all ages. Bands also performed nightly along with bongo sponsored by the VFW, Rotary funnel cakes and the Firefighter's Food Stand.
Sayre attends Beef Leaders Institute Brett Sayre, Purdin, was one of 26 American Angus Association® members from across the country that attended the 2022 Beef Leaders Institute (BLI) June 13-17. The annual event is hosted by the American Angus Association and funded by the Angus Foundation and Certified Angus Beef® brand (CAB®).
Lucy Kjos, a Linn County Home Schooler, won the Brookfield General John J Pershing Post 4557 Patriot Pen Essay Contest. On May 17, at the Brookfield VFW hall, Kjos read her winning essay, "My Pledge to Our Veterans." The essay contest encourages youth to examine American history along with their own experiences by drafting a 300-400 word essay. VFW Quartermaster Joe Pointon, Commander Rodney Burch, and Auxiliary Officer Barbara Pointon and pictured presenting Patriot Pen winner Lucu Kjos a check and certificate.
