City of Marceline 2022 Independence Day Celebration

Marceline's 2022 Independence Day Celebration will run from June 30-July 4 with a carnival by Jones& Company. Advance arm bands are $20 each and can be purchased at C&W Hardware, June 10-30 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Arm bands can be purchased nightly at the carnival for $25. Mega pass arm bands, which are good for the entire carnival can be purchased for $85 each at C&W Hardware, June 10-30 from 8 a.m., – 5 p.m., or they can be purchased at the carnival for $85.

Missourians Warned of Timeshare Scam

Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft’s securities division is warning Missourians about a recent increase in fraudulent schemes targeting owners of timeshare properties in Mexico. These scams involve individuals claiming to be representatives of a brokerage firm, travel agency, title company or escrow agent making contact with timeshare owners over the phone.

NCMC Awarded Over $1.4 Million To Help Low Income, Potential First Generation College Students Access Higher Education

The U.S. Department of Education announced that North Central Missouri College (NCMC) will receive a federal Upward Bound grant of $1,488,005 or $297,601 annually for five years to help more low-income students who would be the first members of their families to earn degrees to prepare for and enroll in college. NCMC has sponsored an Upward Bound Program since 1999 and serves 50 students per year. The high schools that will be served in the successful grant include Trenton, Brookfield, Chillicothe, Gallatin, Penney (Hamilton), and Tri-County (Jamesport).
