The Brookfield R-III Board of Education, Brookfield, Missouri met in open session on May 17 in the High School Media Center. Board members were present Jim McIntyre, Blake DeVoy, Mandy Tarpening, Dave Shaw, Noel Staddie and Ryan Burns were present.
Brookfield Public Library Book Sale The Brookfield Public Library is holding its annual Book Sale from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., on June 23-24, at the library located at 102 E. Boston St., Brookfield.
On June 7, James Jackson, Clarence Turner and Nicholas Jones were all sentenced to time in the Missouri Department of Corrections by the Linn County Court. According to a press release by Shiante McMahon, Linn County Prosecuting Attorney, the court sentenced Jackson on two felony counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, and one felony count of Possession of more than 20 images of Child Pornography.

The Bucklin Community Association (BCA) hosted another successful fish fry and pie auction on Saturday, June 4. Numerous volunteers cooked, served dinner and donated pies.
An article published in the May 25 issue of the Linn County Leader titled, "Candidates Meet," incorrectly stated that Prosecuting Attorney Shiante McMahon was offering investigative reporting training to the Marceline Police Department.

A resurfacing project on U.S. Highway 36 in Livingston County has been postponed. Originally scheduled to begin Monday the project is now scheduled to begin today, June 8. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has contracted with Herzog Contracting Corp. to complete the project which extends eastbound from Route C to Parson’s Creek, just over the Linn County line, and westbound from Parson’s Creek to Coon Creek. The contractor’s new planned schedule of work is as follows:
The Grand River Valley Choir and Orchestra (GRVCO) will present its annual Summer Concert, “We Remember,” at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 18, in the Trenton R-IX Performing Arts Center. The program will be dedicated to Buddy Hannaford. A variety of music will be performed. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m., following the dress rehearsal.
