Memorial Day weekend is a highly anticipated opportunity for people to enjoy Missouri’s state parks, lakes, sporting events, and attractions. This means more travelers on Missouri’s roadways and an increase in boating traffic on the state’s lakes and rivers. Drivers and boat operators are reminded to follow all Missouri’s laws and be courteous. Safety should always be part of your weekend plans. Always wear a seat belt when traveling in a vehicle and wear a life jacket when near, on, or in the water.

The Livingston County Sheriff's Office is working with the Missouri Sheriff's Association (MSA) to potentially start a second law enforcement academy class in Chillicothe. According to a press release from Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox, this would be a parttime academy consisting of evening classes and some daytime weekend training.

To the Editor: As the daughter, sister, niece, cousin and wife of a War World II and Vietnam veterans, I hold a special place in my heart for the parents, siblings, spouses, and friends of those who served. I can’t help but think of all the men and women who have gone to fight for this great nation and didn’t return home.

The Missouri State Fair is accepting nominations for Veteran/Active Military Honoree of the Day, through July 5. The program is sponsored by Capital Materials, Retrieving Freedom, Inc., and Starline Brass.

Marceline R-V High School announced top achieving students from the Class of 2022. Class valedictorian and salutatorian were announced at Senior Awards and Scholarship Night.

There is a $3 suggested contribution for meals for those 60 years and over and $6.75 cost for meals for those 59 years and under. Meals are delivered Monday thru Friday, from 10:30 – 12:00, except on holidays.
