Junior Auxiliary Member Wins First Place

Sunday evening, May 15, at the Bucklin Legion hall, Crystal Aldridge, Unit 57 Auxiliary member was recognized by Unit 57 Auxiliary President Wilma Jobson for placing first in the District in the Americanism Essay Contest. The Americanism Essay Contest was created to teach students the value of patriotism and what it means to be Americans. Aldridge's essay will now compete for the state title.

Website For Missouri’s American Rescue Plan Act Funds Launches

Recently, Governor Mike Parson announced the launch of a public website to help guide access to Missouri's American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. The website, moarpa.mo.gov, enables visitors to learn about how ARPA State Fiscal Recovery Funds are being spent in Missouri. The website will also provide information on how Missouri organizations, non-profits, municipalities, businesses, communities, and other entities can apply for the State’s ARPA funds.

Linn County Memorial Auxiliary Unit 538 met Monday, May 9, at the Thorne Center. The members set up a schedule to work for Poppy Days May 26 and 27 in Brookfield. The Unit voted for the slate of officers for 2nd District. Next meeting will be June 13.

Chariton Valley Donates To Food Bank

Kirby Underberg – CEO, Donna Bell - Manager of Public Relations/Economic Development & Marketing of Chariton Valley presented a check in the amount of $1000 to help feed those in need in the local community. Steve Yager and Teresa Ross of The Food Bank for Central and Northeast MO were on hand to accept the donation. Linn County 4-H Contest Day Held

The Linn County 4-H Contest Day for 2022 was held Saturday, April 30 at the Linn County Area Career Center, with 48 participating members from the seven Linn County clubs: Brookfield 4-Her’s, Pershing’s Pride, Shafter, Shelby, South Eagle, Southeast Linn & Wyandotte. This year’s contests, hosted by Pershing’s Pride and Wyandotte clubs, included table setting, collections, quilts, photography, personal interview, public speaking, demonstrations, judging and skill-a-thon. Working and General Demonstrations are eligible to continue to the Missouri State Fair. Awards are given at the end of the event and the results for each age division are as follows:
