Record Of Decision Signed For The East Locust Creek Reservoir In Sullivan County

The USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Missouri signed a Record of Decision (ROD) on May 11, supporting the installation of a multi-purpose reservoir in Sullivan County. The decision concludes extensive environmental analysis and fulfills National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements for NRCS.

Krumpelman Receives Ray-Carroll County Grain Growers Scholarship

Each spring the Ray-Carroll County Grain Growers Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to outstanding high school seniors who are children of the cooperative’s members. This year the cooperative awarded 15 scholarships for a total of $15,000 to area seniors including Rhea Krumpelman of Marceline High School. Krumpelaman, daughter of Michael and Tina Krnmpelman of Marceline, plans to attend The University of Missouri and major in English. The Ray-Carroll Grain Growers Scholarship was started in 1981. It has awarded 572 scholarships for a total of $484,050.00.

Free FAFSA Events

Filing the FAFSA is often the first step to securing financial aid for college. Students attending college during the 2022-23 academic year will have another chance for free help completing their FAFSA through the Summer FAFSA Frenzy events planned throughout the state. The Missouri Department of Higher Education & Workforce Development will host FAFSA Frenzy events at local Missouri Job Centers.

Linn County Memorial Auxiliary Unit 538 met Monday, May 9, at the Thorne Center. The members set up a schedule to work for Poppy Days May 26 and 27 in Brookfield. The Unit voted for the slate of officers for 2nd District. Next meeting will be June 13.

The U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) 2022 Great Plains Region Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year is Brookfield's Better By Design, LLC. This award honors small businesses at the national and regional levels in federal procurement, specifically, having provided outstanding goods and services to the U.S. Government in their role as prime contractor. Better By Design, LLC was nominated for their performance on two federal contracts they were awarded as 8(a) sole-source direct awards in 2020 and 2021. The company’s innovativeness of products and services filled a niche/technical need not being adequately addressed by competition.
