Antiques, Art, and Arrow Rock!

On Saturday, May 14, Friends of Arrow Rock will host and present a unique event, the Antiques and Decorative Arts Symposium—The World of Folk Art. “Folk art is artistic works, such as paintings, sculpture, basketry, and utensils produced by untrained, often anonymous artists or by artisans of varying degrees of skill, marked by such attributes as highly decorative design, bright, bold colors, flattened perspective, strong forms in simple arrangements, and immediacy of meaning.”

PETA Asking For Another Investigation At Smithfield

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has once again sent a letter toSullivan County Prosecuting Attorney Brian Keedy asking again for a criminal investigation regarding workers at the Smithfield Fresh Meats' Milan plant after the organization obtained documentation from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) revealing that workers allegedly struck pigs with a hard plastic paddle, including in the head, at the plant near Milan in November of 2021.

Libeer Heads To Girls State

Cierstyn Libeer, a junior at Brookfield High School, was selected to attend the 2022 Missouri Girls State, June 11-18, at Lindenwood University, St Charles. The Brookfield Rotary Club and Brookfield Elks Lodge were Girl State sponsors. Girls State educates students in hands on experience on how American government works.
