NCMC Athletics Mourns The Loss Of Former Coach Dale Kimberling

Former North Central Missouri College (NCMC) head men's basketball coach Dale Kimberling died on April 7, at the age of 76. Kimberling launched his collegiate coaching career as head women's basketball coach at State Fair Community College from 1977-1979. He then came to NCMC to lead the men's basketball program from 1979-1987. After one year at Missouri Southern State University following NCMC, Coach Kimberling returned to State Fair where he finished his career. He led the women's program for 17 more years followed by two years as head coach for their men's program before retiring from coaching.

Marceline FBLA Students Place In State, Three Head To National’s

Marceline FBLA students walked away from the 2022 MO FBLA State Leadership Conference with three advancing to National Conference in Chicago. Students advancing to Nationals by placing 2nd in state are Ruth Shackelford, Avery Gordon and Lola Kitchen in Intro to Event Planning. Also placing at state in 10th place was Bennett Phillips, Trevor Terrell and Bennett Phillips in Public Service announcement and Cassi Rodgers walked away with 9th place on Insurance and Risk Management.

March 2022 Monthly Jobs Report

Missouri non-farm payroll employment decreased slightly from February 2022 to March 2022, and the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased by one-tenth of a percentage point. Employment, seasonally adjusted, decreased by 200 jobs over the month. Private industry employment increased by 600 jobs, while government employment declined by 800 jobs. The state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.6% in March 2022, down from 3.7% in February 2022. Over the year, there was an increase of 82,100 jobs from March 2021 to March 2022, and the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate decreased by 1.2%, from 4.8% in March 2021 to 3.6% in March 2022.

Area Citizens Participate In 14th Community Alliance Program

Sixteens residents of the Missouri Highway Patrol Troop B territory completed a Community Alliance Program offered by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop B Headquarters, including a Bucklin resident. This was the 16th program of its type conducted at Troop B since 2001. The Community Alliance Program is a unique opportunity for citizens to gain insight and understanding of the training and many duties of the Missouri State Highway Patrol. It also offers an opportunity to meet and interact with several members and employees of the Patrol. During the program, the participants met at the Troop B Headquarters in Macon, for six consecutive Monday evenings. Classroom and practical instruction covered various topics, including firearms, traffic stops, criminal investigations, polygraph examinations, and driving while intoxicated enforcement.
