Every four years, the USA National Games provide an opportunity for Special Olympics athletes to compete at the national level in summer sports. The 2022 USA Games are set for Orlando, FL. Team Missouri will attend with a delegation of 127 athletes, Unified Partners, coaches, sports managers and staff.
Former North Central Missouri College (NCMC) head men's basketball coach Dale Kimberling died on April 7, at the age of 76. Kimberling launched his collegiate coaching career as head women's basketball coach at State Fair Community College from 1977-1979. He then came to NCMC to lead the men's basketball program from 1979-1987. After one year at Missouri Southern State University following NCMC, Coach Kimberling returned to State Fair where he finished his career. He led the women's program for 17 more years followed by two years as head coach for their men's program before retiring from coaching.
Michael Thomas Gulley, 45, Marceline, has been charged with in two separate cases with first degree sexual abuse. On March 31, Gulley was charged with felony first-degree sexual abuse and fourth - assault, from crimes alleged to have occurred between July 20, 2021 and Aug.
Marceline City Market Marceline City Market is reopening from 3-6 p.m., at the Walsworth Community Center. It will be open every Tuesday from 3-6 p.m.
Hazel & Grace - a boutique clothing and accessories store - is the newest business to open along Main Street USA in downtown Marceline. Tori Davis, owner, said the store, located in the historic and recently revamped Zurcher Building will open officially on Saturday, April 16.
The Marceline Community Chest Board of Directors announced the 2022 Campaign is underway. Local residents, businesses and community organizations will soon receive their 2022 pledge cards in the mail.
Avengers made their way to the Burris Center in Brookfield on Sunday. The event is one of many sponosred by Brookfield Parks & Recreation. This Saturday the group is hosting two events, an Easter Egg Hunt, at Rusk Park at 10 a.m. Different ages in different locations. Fairy Garden Workshop, will also beheld Saturday from 1 – 4 p.m., at the Burris Center, Bring your own container with some dirt in it and anything special to decorate with. Everything else supplied. The Linn County Commission met on March 22 with Commissioners King, Murrain and Muck and Clerk Stephenson present. Presiding Commissioner King called the meeting to order. The agenda for March 22, was reviewed.
