Schmitt Joins Multistate Action To End Mask Mandate On Public Transportation

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt joined 20 other states in a multistate action against President Joe Biden’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) continued use of the unlawful mask mandate on public transportation. The attorneys general argue that the mandate exceeds the authority of the CDC. The Biden administration continues to use a failed interpretation of a quarantine statute—that has been ruled against in court several times—to authorize the CDC’s rule. The continuation of the CDC’s unlawful mask mandate harms the states.

AP Sources: Asylum Limits At Border Expected To End May 23

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Biden administration is expected to end the asylum limits at the U.S.-Mexico border by May 23 that were put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, according to people familiar with the matter. The decision, not yet final, would halt use of public health powers to absolve the United States of obligations under American law and international treaty to provide haven to people fleeing persecution.

Missouri Securities Division Joins States, SEC In $100 Million Settlement With Digital Asset Company

Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft’s Securities Division has announced that digital-asset financial services company, BlockFi Lending LLC (BlockFi), has agreed to pay $50 million to members of the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) and an additional $50 million to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to settle claims related to the offer and sale of unregistered securities. BlockFi had over 400,000 investors in the U.S.

Linn County Residents Asked To Pass Sales Tax Increase To Fund County Law Enforcement

Linn County voters are being asked to vote “yes” to a one-quarter of a cent sales tax increase at the polls on April 5 to help support the Linn County Sheriff ’s Office (LCSO). “The law enforcement tax is needed to help supplement our budget at the Linn County Sheriff ’s Office,” Linn County Sheriff Jeff Henke said.
