AAA: Crude Oil Hits $100 Per Barrel Amid Geopolitical Unrest

The statewide gas price average in Missouri is $3.22 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel, according to the AAA Missouri Weekend Gas Watch. That price is four cents more compared to this day last week and is 80 cents more per gallon compared to this day last year. Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in Missouri, drivers in Jefferson City are paying the most on average at $3.28 while drivers in Joplin are paying the least at $3.11 per gallon. The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $3.54, which is two cents more compared to this day last week and 88 cents more than the price per gallon at this same time last year, according to AAA Gas Prices.

FFA Chapters Kick-Off FFA Week

Area FFA spent last week celebrating FFA Week. Brookfield FFA and Marceline FFA Foundation students started the week off by attending area church services on Sunday, Feb. 20. Brookfield FFA members went to a church service at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Brookfield; and Marceline FFA members went to church and then visited Pioneer Nursing Home.

Halls Of Brookfield Funded

Late last year, it was announced that the Halls of Brookfield Senior Apartments project was funded. The $10 million project includes a three-story facility “Halls of Brookfield”, for seniors 55 and over. There will be 40 apartments that will rent from $265-$685 a month. This approval came after the city had applied for the three-story housing unit.

Missouri Automotive Lubricant Company Agrees To Pay Penalty For Alleged Environmental Law Violations

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will collect a $130,243 penalty from Champion Brands LLC, a producer and seller of automotive lubricants, to resolve alleged violations of the federal Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act. According to EPA, the company failed to submit required annual reports listing releases of toxic chemicals at the company’s facility in Clinton, Missouri.

MDC Reminder That Catch-And-Keep Trout Season Starts March 1 At Trout Parks

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- March 1 marks the annual opening of catch-and-keep trout fishing in Missouri at the state’s four trout parks: Bennett Spring State Park near Lebanon, Montauk State Park near Licking, Roaring River State Park near Cassville, and Maramec Spring Park near St. James. The catch-and-keep season at the trout parks runs through Oct. 31.
