Grant will bring new life to Gucker Coal office

A $10,000 grant from BNSF Railway will help bring new life to the Gucker Coal Company office situated near two properties associated with the railroads—the former Santa Fe Depot (now the Walt Disney Hometown Museum) and Ripley Park (named for the 14th president of the ATSF Railway).Frank and Inez Gucker’s coal business was an integral part of the city starting when they purchased the property in 1941 from Hemmings Mercantile & Supply (which built the office in 1924) and Randolph Coal Company, both of which worked from the building up from its erection in 1924 until 1941.
