The Marceline R-V High School Scholar Bowl team had its first event in a month with a Saturday, April 1 visit to the OMAR tournament in Moberly. The school took two teams, which placed 11th and 22nd overall. The A team also took 3rd in the consolation pool in the afternoon session. Jackson Fetherlin made the All-Tournament team in 8th place individually, averaging 44 points per game and leading the event with the most power points in the preliminary rounds. The teams next action will be on April 15 as they host the District Tournament.
With the changing of seasons, changes also come to the Marceline R-V District School Board cabinet, as reorganization will take place after the yesterday’s election. Current vice-president Adam Stallo presided over the March 20 board meeting, as requested by president Lex Cavanah at February’s meeting. Cavanah announced his resignation from the board earlier this year.
Two local students were selected to represent GRM Networks at the 2023 Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. Amanda Jefferson, of Browning, and Emma Walkup, of Princeton, will travel to the nation’s capital this summer and join other youth representing rural telecommunication providers.
On April 4 voters within the Marceline R-V School District will be asked to vote for three, three year terms on the board. Those running for those seats include incumbents Toni Sportsman, Josh Moore and Walter Heller, along with Chelsea Niemeier and Landon Teeter.
Attendance was down to approximately 30 for the Senior Meal at the Baptist Church on March 20. Since that was the first day of Spring, apparently many were enjoying the more spring-like weather elsewhere.
