The Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA) has awarded Missouri State Representative Peggy McGaugh (R-Carrollton) the 2022 Legislative Champion Award for her leadership on H.B.1878 and her work to secure future elections during the 101st General Assembly. H.B. 1878 passed the Missouri House by an overwhelming 97-47 vote and was signed into law June 29, 2022. The new law was in effect for the November 2022 general election.

Trash-can-decorating contest runs through March 17 The Missouri Department of Transportation invites Missouri students in grades K-8 to help fight litter in Missouri – and to have creative and educational fun – by participating in the 2023 “Yes You CAN Make Missouri Litter- Free” trash-can-decorating contest. The contest is part of MoDOT’s annual “No MOre Trash!” statewide litter campaign, which is held in April.

This photo on the front cover of “The Blue Mound Chronicles” book shows a gentleman labeled; Dr Biship (sic) dressed in what appears to be a buffalo skin coat (second from right). Gary Maberry, co-author of the book, and I tried unsuccessfully to find out who he was and what his connection was to Blue Mound before the book was published. Recently, I found two articles in the May 12, 1899 issue of the Braymer Bee newspaper listing his obituary and funeral. He was Dr. Calvin S. Bishop who practiced medicine in the Braymer area and died at the age of 46 (5 years after the photo was taken) and is buried in the Plymouth Cemetery. North Central Missouri College Foundation announces NCMC Foundation Scholarship application deadline of 4:30 p.m. on March 31, for the 2023-2024 academic year. Any student planning to attend NCMC in the fall as full-time is strongly encouraged to apply. “One online application can put a student in the running for many different scholarships,” indicated NCMC Foundation Executive Director Alicia Endicott. “The NCMC Foundation will hand out over $225,000 during the upcoming academic year due to the generosity of many supporters who believe in investing in NCMC students.”
