December 2022 monthly Jobs Report

Missouri non-farm payroll employment decreased by 5,000 jobs from November 2022 to December 2022, and the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate increased by one-tenth of a percentage point. Private industry employment decreased by 5,300 jobs and government employment increased by 300 jobs. The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 2.8% in December 2022, an increase of one-tenth of a percentage point from 2.7% in November 2022. Over the year, there was an increase of 47,600 jobs from December 2021 to December 2022, and the unemployment rate decreased by 1.1 percentage points, from 3.9% in December 2021 to 2.8% in December 2022.

Main Street Brookfield names January Improvement Spotlight recipients

Main Street Brookfield’s Improvement Spotlight recipients for January 2023 are: Ryan Jacobs of Hometown Hardware for the façade painting of the West Helm Street facility, Justin Reiland, owner of the Frances Building, for his major improvements of all new windows and awnings for the complex, and Jarrod Black, owner of the South Main business properties of NV Nails and Barber Shop, for powerwashing, painting, and new street numbers of the building. This program is to recognize and thank business and/or building owners for their continued maintenance and upkeep of their structures.

Senate Bill 40 Hosts Safety Fair

Linn County Senate Bill 40 hosted the first Safety Fair at Park Baptist Church, Brookfield, on Tuesday, January 10, in the Fellowship Hall. Children with disabilities, as well as their parents, guardians, and caregivers were invited to meet informally with police officers, first responders, and fire department personnel to learn more about safety issues and interacting with public safety personnel.

Moms Breaking the Silence takes donations for Main Street 201 Moms Breaking the Silence, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending stigma surrounding suicide prevention and mental health awareness, has started another nonprofit service project for the Linn County area.
