Today, we are announcing a change with the change with the Linn County Leader. Currently a two day per week newspaper, as of the first of the year we will be delivering a weekly paper on Wednesdays.

Bring in the new year safely!

Colonel Eric T. Olson, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, encourages everyone to make good decisions regarding their New Year’s celebration. No one wants to start 2023 with a traffic crash or DWI arrest. During the 2022 New Year’s period, one person was killed and 331 injured in 1,045 traffic crashes in Missouri.

College notes

Van Dyke earns degree from CSC Chadron State College's combined undergraduate and graduate winter commencement exercises were canceled Dec. 16, due to heavy snowfall and high winds. The list of candidates includes summer graduates and consists of 71 names for master's degrees and for 108 bachelor's degrees. Students who wish to, are invited to walk in the May ceremony.

Main Street Brookfield: “This Place Matters”

“This Place Matters” – Main Street Brookfield is initiating a new program to recognize business or building owners for new improvements. Improvement Spotlights for the month of December are: Hair Express -Tawnya McLaurey owner, Shelter Insurance - Monica Baker broker, and Local Luxuries Boutique - Rebeccah Dorrell owner. Main Street Brookfield intends to select business improvements throughout the year.
