The beat goes on, as a 1970’s hit pop tune would announce on the airwaves. Those attending the Aquatic Exercise classes at the Marceline Municipal Swimming Pool would agree. Upbeat music, including tunes from the 1980’s, are included during the Aquatic Exercise classes.
After about a 3-weeks hiatus, 2024-25 sports competition for Marceline and Brookfield high school teams will resume late next week with the start of competition in spring sports.
The Brookfield Knights of Columbus will be hosting a series of fish fry events this spring, offering a delicious meal to the community while supporting a local cause. The fish fry will take place on three Fridays: March 14, March 28, and April 11, from 4:30- 7 p.m. The event will be held in the Catholic School basement at 210 West John Street in Brookfield.

Get ready to relive the magic of the ‘80s at the upcoming Totally 80’s Adult Prom, presented by Moms Breaking the Silence. The much-anticipated event is set for Saturday, March 8, at the Brookfield Elks Lodge, promising an evening filled with music, dancing, and retro vibes.
The Brookfield R-III Board of Education met in open session at 5:30 p.m. at the High School Media Center on February 20, 2025. Several report updates and agenda were presented, including monthly administrative reports, a bond issue and the final ballot language for Proposition 2, the district’s Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) and upcoming review in the spring, the district’s Policy Updates, and the district’s health insurance plan.
As warmer weather approaches, the North Central Missouri YMCA is gearing up for another exciting season of youth sports. Registration is now open for flag football and soccer, with the deadline set for March 3-7. Due to high demand, age divisions will close throughout the week as teams fill up to prevent overcrowding.
Linn County churches are coming together once again for the annual Interdenominational Lenten Services, offering a time for reflection, unity, and spiritual renewal. The 2025 series will take place every Wednesday at noon throughout Lent, featuring worship services hosted by different congregations in the community. Each service will be followed by a light lunch, encouraging fellowship among attendees.
