INDIANAPOLIS — former University of Missouri football head coach Gary Pinkel has been selected for induction into the National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2022. Pinkel is the winningest head coach at Mizzou (2001-15) and at the University of Toledo (1991-2000).
With the closing of archery deer and turkey season today (Jan. 15), all of Missouri’s 2021-22 deer hunting seasons are over.
MILAN — This week’s Milan Invitational high school basketball tournament couldn’t have begun much better for the Marceline and Brookfield teams. On Monday, MHS’ top-seeded Tigers and second-seeded Lady Tigers both turned back stubborn Brashear squads – the boys 52-44 and girls 57-47, while BHS’ girls kept things very respectable against the Cady Pauley-led host Lady Wildcats in a 52-38 defeat.
The Kansas City Chiefs did what they had to Saturday, beating the Broncos on the road to finish up the regular season. Too bad the Titans did what they had to Sunday, too.
The early part of the past week saw most Class 1 high school basketball teams in or embracing part of Linn County have struggles, but there was good news for one team. Having dropped eight of their previous 10 and five in a row, the Meadville Eagles got back in the “wins” column, but barely, after squandering a 10-points lead they had after one period.
