Mizzou’s Kobe Brown hauls in 23 rebounds in lopsided victory over Paul Quinn College

Missouri junior Kobe Brown was aware his rebounding total was well past a dozen while on the floor Monday night. Despite a huge lead against NAIAlevel Paul Quinn College, Brown stayed in the game for 34 minutes not to just grab rebounds, per MU head coach Cuonzo Martin, but because of his ability to help the Tigers keep pace offensively.

Meadville, Linn County girls reach Northwestern tournament semis

MENDON — The projected, but not assured, Northwestern Invitational tournament girls’ championship game between western Linn County squads was still on track at mid-week. The top-seeded Meadville Lady Eagles (2-0) got a game-high 17 points and seven rebounds from senior Maggie McLain Monday as they began pursuit of another NIT championship with a 53- 17 shredding of Hale/Bosworth.

‘Walk-off ’ to Columbia: MHS last-play kick takes state semifinal 31-30

MARCELINE — During the 2021 high school football postseason, the Marceline Tigers apparently have chosen to play under an alias – the Eagles. At least their district-championship game and state quarterfinal and semifinal contests the past three weeks – all at MHS’ Chester Ray Stadium – have taken that famed music group’s mid-1970s admonition “take it to the limit one more time” to the “nth” degree.

Meadville’s McLain shows way in return

SALISBURY — Gladly welcoming back a player they missed down the stretch last season, Meadville High School’s basketball Lady Eagles grabbed a 13-6 lead in the opening eight minutes and, despite shooting only about 33% from the field in the game, kept Glasgow’s Lady Yellowjackets at arm’s length the rest of the way, “winning” three of the four quarters in their neutral-floor season opener Saturday, Nov. 19, 53-43.
